- Wear easy-to-remove shoes - in most cases, homeowners prefer no shoes (or shoe covers); wearing shoes that are easy to remove and put back on takes the hassle out of your first steps into the home, prevents a back-up at the front door with other visitors, and is just easier if you're visiting multiple homes
- Take notes - whether written or mentally (written is better), take notes of features of the homes you're visiting to help build your wish list and determine your deal breakers.
- Look beyond the decor - it's easy to get distracted by the beautiful staging or all the outdated decorations. Remember you're buying the house, not the furniture. Look past the decor, does the layout work well for you? Are the bedrooms situated favorably? Is there enough storage? Is the wear and tear minimal? Is there anything hidden under that rug?
- The sooner the better - in the current market, Thurs-Sat are the best days to visit open houses if possible. Not because Sundays are bad, it's just that by Sunday the sellers may have already received several offers, have accepted an offer already, OR in a lot of cases you may end up having to make a hasty decision as sellers and their agents want to make a decision soon
- USE MY NAME - as you're visiting open houses you'll do a LOT of signing in. Feel free to leave my name and info on the sign-in sheets to prevent an excess of realtors from filling up your inboxes
